About 4 years ago my Mother, who has severe arthritis in the shoulder blade and is in an arthritis knee brace, asked me if I could find something natural to help her deal with the pain and hopefully make her more mobile as well. So after scouring a ton of information that the internet offers, I came up with some interesting conclusions.
These tips were able to help her out immensely and so I thought that I would set up a site that showed people what they can do to relieve arthritis pain and suffering (maybe even reverse the effects naturally). So I’ve broken it into 2 main parts that will be discussed over the next few days.
Part 1 - Arthritis Rebounding, Part 2 - Whole body Vibration, The Number one thing that we observed was that the best arthritis low impact excercises were scattered all over the net and so we decided to focus our site on arthritis exercises and have compiled a list of the top ones here in this article and in various other articles scattered throughout this site.
When exercising with arthritis you have to focus on certain movements and an overall balanced workout for your whole body (not just the area affected by the arthritis). A common mistake is to focus on just the area that is in pain but if you do this, you not only throw your body’s balance out of whack but you also overwork the problem area and can actually perpetuate the arthritis and cause inflammation or cartilage deterioration. Instead, when working out with arthritis it is essential to focus on the following,
1. Range of motion,
2. Strengthening
3. Aerobic
We will not focus on these individually in this article as they are discussed in great detail in other articles on the site. However, I wanted to outline these as the keys to arthritis exercising because they were the indicators I used when evaluating the best excercise system arthritis – that is to say Arthritis Rebounding.
A Rebounder is basically a mini trampoline that you can use in your own home, and if you’re like my 60 year old mother, you may be a little nervous at the thought of jumping on a trampoline…but a rebounder is slightly different, firstly it has an bar attachment that comes up to about your waist and you hold on to. Also, to clarify, this is a light workout we’re not going to go nuts on this it’s just a gentle bouncing motion enough to loosen the lymph into the blood stream and out of the body. This is great for people with arthritis in the knees as it offers a great strengthening agent and arthritis knee support.
You can likely find one available at your local gym or fitness centre. If you are interested in purchasing one for yourself we have some links below and here’s some resources that has been vital in my mothers recovery!.
